Performing Arts: Theatre Lydia's Funeral Video

Visions of the not-so-distant future usually connote alien invasions, zombie attacks, or at least some presidential administration shake-ups, but local actress, musician, playwright, and stand-up comic Samantha Chanse deals out a few other ideas in her new one-woman play. Combining bits of video, impromptu stand-up, and panicky introspection, Lydia's Funeral Video follows the plight of a young woman and her sass-talking embryo as they negotiate the politics of a newly invoked 28-day abortion countdown. Spiked with surreal celebrity trash-culture references, sardonic moral relativity, and Chanse's biting wit, LFV celebrates irreverent political incorrectness and the societal gray areas in all of us.
