Steven Wolf Fine Arts says…

Domestic trappings and urban landscapes collide in Dustin Fosnot's latest series, Cyanide. To install these jarring pieces, the artist drops mattresses printed with a shadowy outline of his body onto city streets. Using the blue-tinged cyanotype printing process, Fosnot lies on discarded Beautyrests coated in photo emulsion, thus leaving behind a negative image reminiscent of a chalk line at a crime scene. With references to Yves Klein's blue body paintings (or, Anthropométries) and the street stencils of Richard Hambleton, Fosnot creates a sense of dislocation with these private gestures made in the public sphere.
