Performing Arts: Dance Icarus/Rise

The hot sun melting fragile wax wings has long served as a cautionary tale about the hubris of man. Now director, writer, translator, and performer Niloufar Talebi turns the myth of Icarus into a surprisingly fitting metaphor for the post-revolutionary exodus of Iranians. Combining elements of poetry, dance, and video, she searches for identity as an artist and immigrant. Alex Ketley's projections and choreography are set to new poems by rising stars Ziba Karbassi, Granaz Moussavi, Maryam Huleh, Abbas Saffari, Jamshid Moshkani, and Shahrouz Rashid.
