This multimedia exhibit and concert series of experimental sound artists play on the various meanings of the word "relay," both as a signal chain and as a circuit completed by various participants. On display in the gallery are sound installations by Dan Nelson, Jim Haynes, Owen Martell, and Simon Proffitt, each exploring the physical properties of sound and the built-in obsolescence of recording technology. The performance series showcases musicians — including Olympia's Lake, branch-and-rock percussionists Thuja, Robert Mills (of dronesters Climax Golden Twins), and Comets on Fire's Noel von Harmonson — who similarly explore the outer limits of sound, whether through homemade instruments or loop-based and improvisatory song structures.
