Although punk might be a historical artifact, Against Me!'s current tour condenses the music's DIY politics and anarchic esprit de corps. With a growing catalog of protest songs (and songs about protest songs), Against Me! offer activist punk for a new generation. Tourmate Ted Leo's cred, relentless tour schedule, and catchy songwriting — equal parts reggae and mod — make him pop-punk's unlikely pin-up. Welsh openers Future of the Left, meanwhile, hew closer to the Iggy & the Stooges model, stomping out primal rhythms while spewing invective-laden tales of losers, freaks, and, well, punks.
