All manner of gleefully morbid and downright creepy curiosities take center stage at Phantasmagorium, the Exploratorium's first annual October fête. The family oriented fright fest delves into the science of death and the emotions of fear through a series of lectures and experiential delights. Discussion topics range from the medicinal applications of leeches to the death and regeneration cycles of snakes, and activities include an open invitation to enact your own funeral and then write your obituary. A shadow puppet show by the Apocalypse Puppet Theater reveals the origin of the jack-o'-lantern, while Halloween-themed films, such as Jan Svankmajer's The Ossuary (1970), round out tonight's bill.
