In its annual homage to all things spooky, the Pacific Film Archive at UC Berkeley presents The Werewolf of Washington, an aptly timed B movie that walks the line between schlocky horror and political spoof. Dean Stockwell (think Blue Velvet and Captain Planet and the Planeteers) stars as a presidential speechwriter who is bitten by a werewolf overseas and returns stateside to an eerily Nixon-esque boss. From there, the film becomes an exercise in cheesy makeup, kitschy special effects, and so-bad-it's-good acting. PFA Halloween tradition calls for costumes and merriment, so break out the lupine suit and make your way toward the East Bay for what even Elvira agrees is a must-see spectacle.
