Robert O'Hara's Good Breeding is a new addition to a rich history of Oresteia adaptations, but it has already generated plenty of off-stage drama, with critics calling it everything from exploitative to genius. But O'Hara, a rising star and recent OBIE recipient, is simply sticking to Aeschylus's original tragedy, which already featured plenty of rape, incest, and cannibalism in its exploration of humankind's role in a world ruled by capricious gods. Timothy Douglas directs students from ACT's prestigious MFA program, and the Zeum Theater provides an intimate backdrop for what ACT warns is a show "for mature audiences only."
