With an exacting delicacy, Vietnamese-born artist Diem Chau uses thread, fabric, and porcelain to sculpt fleeting glimpses of the human figure. In her latest work, she covers teacups and saucers with embroidered silhouettes. Legs visible from the knee down or a smiling face cropped at the neck offer hints of elusive, untold stories, while the threads dangling from these porcelain canvases suggest that they might unravel with just a gentle tug. Also on display are Chau's miniature crayon totems, in which she meticulously carves tiny people into rainbow-hued Crayolas.
