Not only do pizza and beer abound at the La Val's Subterranean Theatre, a speakeasy haven for live performance, but the Impact Theatre's current production of Tallgrass Gothic guarantees an evening of spooky theatrical goodness. Based on the Jacobean classic The Changeling, the play expertly unravels the story of a woman trapped in an abusive marriage. Domestic drama soon turns supernatural, however, and Tallgrass transforms into a lean, mean ghost story, perfect for the Subterranean's underground ambiance. Shotgun Players' favorite Mina Morita directs the play's Bay Area debut.
