What do jungle warfare, track-team romance, and Jorge Luis Borges all have in common? If you said the fiction offered up at tonight's release party, then you have your finger serendipitously poised on the pulse of independent Bay Area publishing. McSweeney's presents issue 29 of its lauded Quarterly Concern, and flatmanCROOKED celebrates First Winter, an anthology of both new and venerable writers. To celebrate the occasion, local favorite Peter Orner joins Believer regulars Joe Wenderoth and Eli Horowitz in what promises to be an evening filled with strong cocktails and prose with a sense of humor.
