In Dark House, four experimental short films play with emptiness in architecture and examine the innate human desire to fill blank rooms with something: people, history, a story. Ben Rivers sets the melancholic and noirish tone of the collection with House, an avant-garde collage of an abandoned residence in decay. Rivers superimposes the dilapidated imagery on a flickering torchlight and further layers his film with a soundtrack lifted from overly worn found sound. Michaela Grill and Martin Siewert's Cityscapes takes a different approach to debunking the oft-assumed permanency of architecture, utilizing archival footage to illustrate the evolving nature of an expanding city's skyline. Robert Todd's Office Suite and Arianne Olthaar's Zoo Enclosures round out the omnibus.
