Though long adored in England for his onstage antics and hip hyperbole, Russell Brand has yet to truly make his mark on the American comedy scene. His rollicking portrayal of self-absorbed rocker Aldous Snow in Judd Apatow's Forgetting Sarah Marshall brought with it newfound international recognition, and Brand then caught the public's attention (along with the Jonas Brothers' wrath) as host of the MTV Video Music Awards. But Brand's recent success is well-deserved, as tonight's showcase of biting British wit, raunchy one-liners, and general braininess (he recently penned the best-selling My Booky Wook and writes regularly for the Guardian) makes for a perfectly hilarious act.
