While Starf*cker's name might seem pedestrian (or at least juvenile), it turns out that the moniker comes from a Rolling Stones tune whose name was later changed to "Star Star" thanks to its vulgar subject matter. Odd name origins aside, the Portland outfit ties danceable pop beats to the catchiest of electro-hooks, utilizing synthesizers, beeps and bloops, and the occasional round of hand claps. And — lucky for you — their whimsical melodies and indie-electro rhythms work best in concert. They cruise into town tonight alongside hometown indie strummers Master/Slave.
