San Francisco-based lo-fi pop-punksters the Mantles walk the fine line between grungy rock and melodic pop, drawing equal influences from '60s British rock and '80s punk. On their way to becoming local heroes, the Mantles garnered great local press with last year's "Blender" 7-inch. Featuring vocals recorded "in a basement through a dingy karaoke machine," the record is as entrancing as it is affected. Two upbeat Bay Area punk outfits, White Music and Photobooth, provide support.
