After the warm reception they received for their last album, 2005's Don't Believe the Truth, Oasis stuck to their legendary ain't-broke-don't-fix-it ethos, with the Gallagher brothers bringing their band back to producer Dave Sardy for the follow-up, Dig Out Your Soul. Chasing the grooves, rather than the hooks, the new album once again sees contributions from all four regular band members. Skirting psychedelia and repeated references to the Rapture, it's also an album that belies chief songwriter Noel's much professed love for the likes of '60s innovators the Pretty Things and Aphrodite's Child. None of the exploration takes away in the slightest from their presence as arena-rock titans, however, so brace for impending hugeness.
