Theatre company Shotgun Players has been bringing cutting-edge productions to the Bay Area for 17 years. It's garnered a solid reputation for attention to detail (peepholes constructed in the lobby walls for Cabaret), "frightfully good" adaptations (the Oakland Tribune's opinion of Medea), and a generally high level of performance (countless sold-out runs at its dedicated Ashby Stage). This winter, the Players recreate Macbeth and his wife as wealthy twentysomethings fixated on sex, power, and fame, unmindful of the dirty work necessary to get what they want. Topped off with a combination of high fashion and modern dance, Macbeth promises to be a production so stylishly sexy that it might even make the Bard blush.
