Music: DJ Joakim w/ Glass Candy

Like Playgroup before him, French producer Joakim called up a disparate group of collaborators and guest vocalists to help out on his latest love note to dance music circa '78-'86, 2007's Monsters and Silly Songs. The results are fresh, yet still reveal the ear of a seasoned DJ (Joakim also runs the Tigersushi label and online store) and remixer, who has gussied up tracks by the likes of Annie and Tiefschwarz. Tonight, Joakim shows off his crate-digging prowess in a DJ set, alongside a live performance by neo-Italo darlings Glass Candy. Local DJs Honey Soundsystem and Sleazemore keep the temperature nice and toasty with their disco and electro-house selections.
