Reading Progressive Reading Series No. 2

With Super Tuesday behind us and the presidential election heating up, it's easy to forget that there are other issues at stake in this election year. Proposition 98 is a statewide measure, to be voted upon in June's elections, that would revoke rent control in California. The Progressive Reading Series — a monthly literary benefit for lefty politics — uses this month's proceeds to help save rent control in San Francisco. Readers include Believer editor and novelist Vendela Vida; Steve Almond, whose latest book of essays includes a bittersweet tribute to Kurt Vonnegut; Charles D'Ambrosio, author of The Dead Fish Museum, and Larry Smith, organizer of the audience-participatory Six-Word Memoir Slam.
