Jordan Eagles' work will have you seeing red, literally. His white plexiglass panels are covered in resin-coated splotches of animal blood, which at first resemble gory lab samples. But, like Andreas Serrano's bloody photographs, Eagle's suspended crimson forms aren't simply about shock value; the artist's process lets him trap every tiny bubble and subtle slope of viscosity, and under light, the painterly drips reveal a subtle richness of color. Then again, this is the life force of a cow, and not a Sherman Williams sample. Eagles may have made the white cube into an abattoir, but there's blood on our hands as well.
