Hang's latest show features pieces from four Bay Area artists whose painting, sculpture, and multimedia works encourage a tactile, visceral exploration of the natural world. Mark Baugh-Sasaki's large-scale sculptural art questions the relationship between the forest and the city, making use of found objects and subtly worked pieces of wood and metal; Emily Clawson uses sea plants known as pneumatocysts as a point of entry for her encaustic and acrylic studies; Andrzej Karwacki's earthy birch panels challenge the calculated detatchment of minimalism; and Nicolas Van Krijdt's work in natural pigments and organic materials pursues a balance between the artist and the environment.
