Art: Photography Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life, 1990-2005
-
- Annie Leibovitz, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rob Besserer, Cumberland Island, Georgia, 1990, Courtesy Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, © Annie Leibovitz
Working since the late '70s, photographer Annie Leibowitz has created both iconic celebrity portraits and intimate views of everyday people. She's perhaps best-known for her striking photos of a naked John Lennon curled around a clothed Yoko Ono for Rolling Stone and a glowing, very pregnant Demi Moore for Vanity Fair. In this retrospective, 200 photographs highlight Leibowitz's professional and personal life, painting a portrait of the artist herself as a thoughtful visionary. Whether richly saturated in color or muted and subtly lit, Leibowitz's photographs leave an indelible mark, precisely capturing the fleeting emotional moments of her diverse subjects.
