These Are Powers refurbish the kind of avant-noise first perpetuated by early-'80s no wave and then domesticated by art-rock posturing; their credibility comes from things like calling their music "ghost punk" and recording a debut album featuring a "prepared bass." Their recently released Terrific Seasons deftly slices their obvious influences, tracking both the meandering intensity of mid-period Boredoms and the angular hooks of bassist Pat Noecker's old playing buddies Liars. Locals Lemonade and Mi Ami open.
