Film Divorce, Italian Style (1961)

Marcello Mastroianni gives a great comic performance in this sharp satire of Sicily's gentry. His Ferdinando is a twitchy aristocrat who casually decides that killing his dominating wife is the best way to get at his Lolita of a cousin. Director Pietro Germi uses the madcap scenario to unravel a hazardous value system that deplores divorce more than murder.
