Music: Rock/Pop Daevid Allen and Josh Pollock w/ Chinatown Bakeries

The Australian psychedelic troubadour Daevid Allen returns with his University of Errors bandmate Josh Pollock. After he dabbled in free jazz in the early '60s, Allen's career took off in England in 1966, when he teamed up with a teenage Robert Wyatt to form Soft Machine. Named after a William Burroughs novel, the pioneering prog group succeeded Pink Floyd as house band for the famed UFO Club — but Allen had to quit when he was denied re-entry to England following a tour. He formed Gong in the fervor of May '68 and has recorded with different incarnations of the band ever since. Local openers Chinatown Bakery channel a similarly pastoral strain of space rock.
