They might be one line short of a collective coronary, but since the 2005 doc New York Doll (following bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane and the Dolls' reunion), this particular band of junkies has been the one to root for. David Johansen's face is more leathery than his pants from his '77 Gem Spa days, but post-Ramones, CBGBs, and everything punk that the Bowery repped, the Dolls are still NYC's hometown boys — and guess what? They put on a hell of a show. Glam rock's middle finger ain't broken, it's just a little wrinkled.
