Film A Genuine Tribute to Peter Bogdanovich

Local film programmer Jesse Hawthorne Ficks has already given cult-movie fans plenty to cheer about with his MiDNiTES FOR MANiACS triple features at the Castro; this three-day Peter Bogdanovich retrospective should attract a wider range of Bay Area cinephiles. The droopy-faced, charismatic Bogdanovich brought an intensive knowledge and appreciation of Hollywood history to bear on his own films, smart-aleck classics like What's Up, Doc? (1972) and The Last Picture Show (1971). Bogdanovich is a raconteur, so it's a treat to have him discuss the films, three of which are screening as director's cuts. Make sure not to miss his under-seen melancholic comedy, They All Laughed (1981).
