All Tomorrow's Parties hit on a golden idea with Don't Look Back, a series that invites bands to recreate their most beloved albums in concert. Launched in 2005 with the usual indie-rock suspects, the series took a turn in 2007 with its premier hip-hop incarnation: GZA's complete performance of his 1995 classic, Liquid Swords. Almost universally acclaimed as the best Wu-Tang Clan side-project, the album features some of RZA's starkest production work and enough Shaolin references to satisfy the most die-hard fan. Away from the Wu's crowded house, GZA allowed himself ample space for expansive wordplay and enigmatic flow on this first solo album. He'll do his best to recreate the effort at this special show at the Independent.
