Art Live Cinema: A Contemporary Reader

With so much of experimental cinema's history now available in museum collections and deluxe DVD sets, some younger alchemists are taking a more hands-on approach to their multimedia work. SF Cinematheque celebrates the more performative side of film's avant-garde with the publication of Live Cinema: A Contemporary Reader. For tonight's event, editor Thomas Beard has invited several live-cinema practitioners along for the party; of special note are LA duo Animal Charm, who scramble late-night television mash-ups and batty video loops into a subversive, kaleidoscopic sprawl.
