- The Girl Can't Help It (1956)
As Little Richard sings over the opening credits to Frank Tashlin's giddy rock 'n roll comedy The Girl Can't Help It, Jayne Mansfield's got a lot of what they call "the most." Squeezed into an array of second-skin cocktail gowns, Mansfield's aspiring singer Jerri Jordan is a walking doll. Tom Ewell plays the agent assigned to hustle the tempting Jerri, reprising his role from The Seven Year Itch (1955) as the bombshell's comic foil. The film is also a vehicle for rock greats including Fats Domino and Gene Vincent, whose cameos — along with Tashlin's poppy direction — enliven what could've just been a slice of studio cheesecake.
