Between Azar Nafisi's memoir Reading Lolita in Tehran and Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel (and now animated feature) Persepolis, post-revolutionary autobiography has become the privileged site for much of the West's conception of contemporary Iran. After the Revolution expands this understanding, exhibiting photographs taken by Iranians born in and around 1978 juxtaposed with photos from Iranian-Americans living in California. The resulting transnational dialogue touches upon the changing nature of tradition, public and private space, and responses to Western influences in Iranian culture.
