Last year's Papercuts album Can't Go Back was a quiet, astonishingly mature statement. SF resident Jason Quever's voice binds careful pop to earnest folk tropes, a cushion of hypnotic organ, and cycling strings; Quever's savvy production predilections turn songs like "Dear Employee" and "Summer Long" into thoroughly credible, melancholy psychedelia. (And his association with the likes of Devendra Banhart, Andy Cabic, and Beach House doesn't hurt.) The Botticellis and the Mantles open.
