As part of ODC's series For the Record: Dancers Debate the Body Politic, the local company presents two new works by aerialist Jo Kreiter and Butoh artist Ledoh. Lies You Can Dance To kinesthetically traces the mistruths and buried wrongs that make up much of US history; dancing amidst a field of suspended objects to a new score by Beth Custer, Kreiter works against gravity and time to excavate some fragment of truth from the compounded strata of deception. Ledoh's Color Me America, meanwhile, uses Butoh's archetypal white-painted body to explore the limits of color blindness and the many other hues of America's ongoing obsession with race.
