Music: Electronic Booka Shade w/ M.A.N.D.Y. and Heidi

German electrohouse pioneers Booka Shade treat San Francisco to a rare stateside club appearance on their way to Coachella. Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier produce aesthetically refined dance music for their boutique label Get Physical, formed in 2002 with M.A.N.D.Y. (who're conveniently co-headlining). Booka Shade's dynamic beats and undulating synths reference Warp Records blips and Italo-disco spaciness, but with a shinier production sense and arrangements that flirt with pop. M.A.N.D.Y. operate in a similar vein, infusing house music's endless beat parade with a much-needed touch of soul.
