Plastiscines, a Parisian all-girl group, are at the forefront of the bébés rockeurs movement, a burgeoning wave of French teen bands known more for pouty lips and louche stage presence than actual musical talent. But unlike its fellow Gauls, this quartet has the chops to back up its sultry image, rolling out an endearing version of garage rock that hinges on frontwoman Katty Besnard's French and English lyrics. It's a perfectly fun mix of girly and growly — Françoise Hardy meets the Strokes, with plenty of French sex appeal thrown in for good measure.
