Music: Rock/Pop Mark Kozelek w/ David Bazan

American Music Club came first, but Mark Kozelek's Red House Painters helped solidify San Francisco's place as a hub for slowcore bands in the early '90s. And although Red House Painters called it quits after years of label headaches, Kozelek continues to turn out plaintive, Nick Drake-touched ballads as a solo artist and with Sun Kil Moon. Expect a few sprawling tunes from Sun Kil Moon's new record April, as well as a few covers (Kozelek's recorded entire albums of introverted takes on AC/DC and Modest Mouse songs). Opener David Bazan, best known for his former band Pedro the Lion, is one of many gravelly voiced singers evidently under Kozelek's spell.
