Music: Rock/Pop Minus the Bear w/ Portugal the Man and the Big Sleep

Like many technically proficient bands, Seattle's Minus the Bear have a bit of a goofy side. In the past they've cloaked their serious chops in song titles like "Pantsuit…Uggghhh" and "Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo." They've cut down on the funny stuff on recent albums, though, instead choosing to focus on their potent mix of prog braininess and emo power. The ghosts of Built to Spill and Jawbox loom large over Minus the Bear's formula, but the band's bright guitar crunch and squirmy keyboards have made them into something unique.
