Do house music and Christianity have something in common? For Green Velvet (Curtis Jones), they do; this DJ favors both the Good Book and Chicago house, but not always at once. As Cajmere, he started producing house music in 1991, gaining fame in 1993 with the popular single, "Percolator," which set the jolting pace the rest of his career behind the decks. Continued success led Jones to embrace the moniker Green Velvet, which allowed him to pursue his dream of forging a distinctly Chicagoan sound. His influence on dance music as a whole, however, extends far beyond our lovely city, from the ubiquitous "La La Land" to a techno-charged dance mix of Madonna's "Sorry."
