Check your backpacks at the door — Lyrics Born is out to party. Everywhere at Once, the San Francisco-based rapper's third proper full-length album, might be this summer's de facto backyard BBQ soundtrack, with LB laying down dexterous rhymes atop the sort of bouncy, sugar-rimmed funk that would make D'Angelo proud. And this time around, he's steeped himself in pop radio (think early Michael Jackson, and even shades of Gary Numan), rather than the mixtape underground. As a descriptor, "feel-good" usually has a derisive ring to it — but in Lyrics Born's hands, it becomes a promise that's more than fulfilled.
