Jonah Raskin discusses Jack London's revolutionary writings at this City Lights event. Though London is best remembered for his wilderness tales, he was also an unabashed radical, even running for mayor of Oakland in 1901 under the banner of the Socialist Party of America. Raskin, a London scholar and former associate of the Weather Underground and Abbie Hoffman (about whom he wrote the biography For the Hell of It), is well-suited to explore the author's political side.
