The Cave Singers infuse their campfire songs with whiskey-soaked Americana and a gutter-punk sneer. It's a nice change of pace after the recent overload of whimsical forest-folk — something of a Northwestern answer to all those sunny SoCal jams. The Seattle trio's best songs have the same ragged beauty as those of Modest Mouse, and lead singer Pete Quirk's sweet yelp will likely find a place in the hearts of Isaac Brock acolytes. Local openers the Botticellis are touring behind their debut album, Old Home Movies, a prime slice of power pop with a bright sense of melancholy reminiscent of Big Star and the Shins.
