The second part of a three-program series devoted to SF experimental filmmaker Warren Sonbert, Pop Witness focuses on Sonbert's early works, made when he was a precocious NYU film student and under heavy influence from the Warhol Factory. Amphetamine and Where Did Our Love Go? (both from 1966) are diaristic glimpses into Sonbert's pop life, as told through borrowed snippets of Hitchcock. Hall of Mirrors (1966) further illustrates Sonbert's admiration of classic Hollywood cinema, while 1989's Friendly Witness is an ecstatic montage of sight and sound, marking his first use of audio since his student days.
