Music: Jazz/Blues Lisa Mezzacappa's Jazz in Analogue

Local jazz bassist Lisa Mezzacappa debuts her new ensemble, Jazz in Analogue, a project inspired by Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, and Cecil Taylor. That's a heady list of influences, but Mezzacappa is up to the task, having performed with avatars like Terry Riley, Meredith Monk, and the latter-day Sun Ra Arkestra over the last few years. She's a musical explorer, experimenting with both improvisation and composition, and lending her talents to a wide range of projects. She's also an established musical curator, leading us to believe that this tribute to her own free-jazz heroes will be a well-cultivated mix.
