Music: Rock/Pop Elbow w/ Air Traffic

After nearly 20 years and just four LPs, British indie-pop darlings Elbow might finally be getting the attention they deserve. The Seldom Seen Kid, the Manchester quintet's most accessible record to date, debuted at #5 on the UK charts — not bad for a band once known for a viral video of a Destiny's Child cover. Guy Garvey's nasal croon and smart lyrics provide an affecting complement to the moody arrangements and occasional bombastic crescendos, while vestiges of the band's more experimental early work linger in their inventive percussion and dexterous guitar melodies.
