Opening (appropriately enough) on Friday the 13th, the Exploratorium's newest exhibit encourages visitors to test their own superstitions (or lack thereof), via an obstacle course littered with pitfalls. Broken mirrors, spilled salt, and leaning ladders challenge participants' notions of rational thought and test their faith in folklore and old-wives' tales. Perched at the crux of cold science and cultural taboo, the obstacle course takes a multimedia, sensorial approach with "bad-luck music" and "misfortune cookies" for anyone brave enough to take a chance.
