While local cinephiles were still circling calendar dates in anticipation of this year's San Francisco International Film Festival, the sponsoring SF Film Society announced a plan to program one screen of the newly renovated Sundance Kabuki theater on a year-round basis. With international cinema increasingly hard to come by on the big screen, the series is a big boost to Bay Area film culture. The premiere run at the Kabuki features Turkish coming-of-age story Times and Winds, a rural drama by Reha Erdem organized around the routine of Islam's daily calls to prayer.
