The Fresh Meat Festival pushes the boundaries of how gender roles are interpreted, and by whom. The only transgender performing-arts festival in the country, Fresh Meat has more room to expand this year thanks to the larger digs of the Project Artaud Theater. Performers include the Isadora Duncan Dance Award-recipient Sean Dorsey; Jose Luis Munoz, reprising his operatic role as queer 17th-century nun Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz; the Transcendence Gospel Choir; and roots-rock singer/songwriter Shawna Virago, among others.
