Jennifer Herrema has a special place in her heart for San Francisco. It's the city where her old band, Royal Trux, combined her own sneering sex appeal with Neil Hagerty's swaggering guitar, and the place where the group evolved from damaged noise to righteous blues-rock. After Royal Trux split up, Herrema kept the key characters and now tours as RTX, maintaining much of Royal Trux's late-career chutzpah. The last time RTX played SF, the sunglasses-clad Herrema snarled from behind a huge animal pelt, with enough energy to compete with the guitar barrage that surrounded her. Imaad Wasif, former touring guitarist for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, opens.
