Film SF Film Society presents Woman on the Beach

Director Hong Sang-soo has a thing for love triangles. In many of his films, the lines are drawn among two longtime male buddies and a female companion, and so it is with his soju-fueled comedy of errors Woman on the Beach — only this time the women have the last laugh. After lecherous Joong-rae seduces his pal's girlfriend while the three are vacationing together, the couple leaves and Joong-rae preys on a female whom he claims resembles his last conquest. But rather than pull a Vertigo-style switcheroo, Hong has the ladies meet for drinks, where they conclude: "Two women shouldn't be fighting dirty over a man. It's boring. This is why hell is boring."
