The Wombats have been selling out venues across the UK since releasing their first singles, "Lost in the Post" and "Party in a Forest (Where's Laura)," in late 2006. Despite being named after an Australian marsupial, the group is made up of three British and Norwegian lads playing classic Brit pop. That means bright guitars, peppy percussion, and suggestive vocals delivered with a clipped accent (here, courtesy of lead singer Matthew Murphy). Their full-length debut, The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, features "Let's Dance to Joy Division," a jangly indie-pop jewel that combines elements of the Strokes and the Arctic Monkeys. It's well on its way to becoming this summer's "Young Folks."
